I am an artist, color explorer, tree climber, and truthseeker. I challenge dominant narratives and systems of oppression through a discipline of spiritual activism. I am developing a social practice that creates inceptive and intersectional culture and invests in the liberation of the 백성 (paek-seong: common people, common folx). I was a librarian / knowledge manager and researcher for more than 12 years, and through this work and my art practice have cultivated a unique balance of creative and analytic knowledge, adeptness at managing multiple projects, and strength in building partnerships and collaborative pathways to deliver projects connecting multiple organizations.

방황하는 개구리 the wondering frog_Hwayoung Seo

There is saying "A big fish in a small pond".
"A Wondering Frog" written by Anthony Curtis Adler,
a small frog Lupu venture forth from a small pond looking for a friend fonding adventures and finally discovering something beyond his dreams. In composing a musical version of
" A Wondering Frog" for the Seoul Toypiano Ensemble I combined various musical idioms,
including Minimalism, Classicism and the early twenty century Tonal music.
The main instruments include piano, 32key and 37 key toy pianos and flute.
These are accompanied with children's bells, chimes, a small jembe and a bongo.
우물 안 개구리라는 말이 있다
이와는 달리 이 작품의 주인공인 작은 개구리 루푸는
자신의 작은 웅덩이에서 나와 만나고 싶은 친구를 찾기 위해 작은 여정을 떠나고
뚯밖의 결과를 맺게 된다는 앤소니 커티스 아들러가 쓴 이야기를 바탕으로 쓰여진 음악극이다.
동화처럼 어럽지 않고 듣기에도 익숙한 음악을 만들기 위해 미니멀리즘,
18세기 클래시시즘 그리고 20세기 초 조성이 있는 현대음악을 염두에 두고 썼다.
이 곡은 서울 토이피아노 앙상블을 위해 작곡되었고
피아노, 토이피아노, 플륫 그리고 벨, 차임, 젬베, 봉고 등의 타악기가 주 편성악기이다

For 'Bus Stop', I wrote a play and music based on what
actually happened to me. I wanted to comically unravel the daily lives of
busy modern people through things that can only
happen in complex cities with well-developed public transportation.
I want to make the audience feel as if they are on their way to work togethe
r through music, lighting, and various productions of the things
that actually happen and the various complex feelings
that pass by in the mind momentarily.
However, the end of the hectic life is enjoyable
because a return to the sweet home awaits.
'버스 정류장'은 실제 나에게 일어났던 일을 Motive로 하여
극과 음악을 모두 직접 썼다. 대
중교통이 발달한 복잡한 도시에서만 일어날 수 있는 일들이 소재가 되었으며
이를 작은 사건의 파편들을 통해 바쁜 현대인의 일상을 진지하지만
코믹한 느낌으로 풀어내고 싶었다. 실제로 일어나는 일들과 마음속에서 순간적으로 스쳐 가는
여러 가지 복잡한 심정을 표현하는 두 가지 또는 그 이상의 모티브를 가지고
음악과 조명과 다양한 방법의 연출을 통하여 관객에게 같이 출근길에 오른 것 같은
기분을 느끼게 해 주려고 노력했다. 그러나 그 복잡 다난하고 바쁜 일상 끝은
sweet home으로의 복귀가 기다리고 있으므로 즐거운 것이다.
